Hospital Laboratory Receives Accreditation

2007 -- The laboratory at Willamette Valley Medical Center has been awarded continuing accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) based on the results of an on-site inspection.

During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examined the laboratory's facilities, procedures, quality system, safety program, staff qualifications and other records. This stringent inspection program is designed to specifically ensure the highest standard of care for the laboratory's patients.

"Accreditation from CAP is one of the highest honors a laboratory can achieve," explains Karl Kamper, Director of Laboratory Services. "Our team cares about our patients and is committed to providing quality results to diagnose disease and monitor their health. It is rewarding to have our hard work and commitment to quality laboratory services recognized by CAP."

The College of American Pathologists is a medical society serving nearly 16,000 physician members and the laboratory community throughout the world. It is the world's largest association composed exclusively of pathologists and is widely considered the leader in laboratory quality assurance.
